文中的“Universiade”就是“大運會”的意思，是由 university 和 Olympiad 兩個詞縮合而成。“Olympiad”這個詞是“奧林匹克運動會”。“大運會”的另外一個表達是“World University Games”。世界大學生運動會，素有“小奧運會”之稱，由“國際大學生體育聯(lián)合會”（英語：International University Sports Federation；法語：Federation Internationale du Sport Universitaire）主辦。
